About/Home

This blog is for education: How an average homeowner with average funds can put energy saving featues in an existing house.  Where do you go for information?  Where do you start?  Questions like these and others will be answered here.  By all means if you do not see your question being answered, ask it and we’ll find the answer!
We are not ‘ditzy’ women, nor are we stupid.  We are simply unfamiliar with the new territory and are learning as we go… and blogging our findings.

Our family’s most common phrase is “put up and shut up”.  So in this blog, you will not find things like, “eeeww, spiders” and “GROSSS!” and other squeemish complaints.  Although, if we contract Typhus, flesh eating bacteria, or fingernail fungus while cleaning out the sludgy crawlspace, you will be duly informed.  🙂 Instead, there will be weekly blogs about that week’s findings, activities, mistakes, and our personal perceptions as we attempt to fully gut this house, and retrofit it.  Whatever happens to us this week, you’ll read about this week.  Oh, and of course, pictures will be posted.

Please respond with your own comments and suggestions as you read along. We know there are many out there who have had experience in the building industry and this has been quickly turning into a community project.  So by all means, stay tuned and pipe up & join in!
